If you’ve ever found yourself browsing the aisle or scrolling through our online store wondering, "Wait, will Hempy’s Heart products get me high, or do they contain CBD?" — you are definitely not alone! It’s one of the most common questions we get, and we love answering it because the truth reveals just how versatile and incredible the hemp plant really is.
The short answer? No. Hempy’s Heart food products contain zero THC, zero CBD, and zero other cannabinoids.
Here is a quick look at why that is, how our products are made, and how industrial hemp is shaping the future of healthy eating and sustainable farming.
Grain Farming vs. Flower Farming: A Tale of Two Crops
When people think of CBD or THC, they are usually thinking of hemp flower farming. Cannabinoids like CBD and THC concentrate primarily in the resinous flowers produced by female plants, often cultivated meticulously in controlled greenhouse settings.
What we do at Hempy's Heart is completely different. Our products come strictly from hemp grain (the seed of the plant), grown through traditional, direct-seeded field agriculture right here in Kansas.
If you drive past a Kansas farm in the summer, hemp grown for grain looks a lot like wheat, corn, soybeans or grain sorghum:
In the Spring:Â Farmers plant seeds directly into the soil using familiar agricultural equipment.
In Late Summer / Early Fall:Â The crop is harvested out in the field with a standard combine.
In Processing: The harvested seeds are cold-pressed to extract rich, nutritious hemp seed oil and ground into hemp flour or wholesome protein powder. Meanwhile, the stalks are chopped and baled into fiber — much like cotton, flax or hay!
Because our products come exclusively from the nutritious seed of the plant, no flower resin touches the process. That means pure, clean, plant-based superfoods for your kitchen with zero cannabinoids attached.
Good for Your Body, Great for the Planet
While hemp seeds deliver an incredible boost of plant-based protein, healthy omega fatty acids and essential minerals, the plant itself is doing heavy lifting for our ecosystem. Industrial hemp requires minimal water, acts as a natural weed suppressor, restores nutrients to the soil and absorbs carbon dioxide rapidly as it grows.
It’s truly a win-win for both people and the planet!
